Lake Geneva offers countless charming diversions, from the dreamy landscape, the beach, and boat rides, to numerous restaurants and eclectic downtown shops. One of these shops is Brick & Mortar Home, a two-story distinctive Victorian at 832 Geneva Street, which offers shoppers one-of-a-kind lake country living furniture and accessories, such as local art, floor coverings, candles, frames, and clothing. Their second location, Brick & Mortar Home & Outdoor, a few blocks away at 222 Center Street, offers a wide selection of indoor and outdoor home furnishings including rugs, wall art, seasonal decorations and more. We caught up with owner Kathy George to learn more about her Brick & Mortar stores!
What makes customers interested in shopping at Brick & Mortar?
Customers are often looking for unique, decorative pieces for their home. Everything you see at our stores is available – from the trinkets on the shelves, sofas, chairs and tables, to the sheets, pillows and blankets. You can see how each item could potentially look in a room, and it helps customers visualize it in their own home. We also try to find the most interesting items to match personal styles. For example, one of our suppliers repurposes teak fishing boats and turns them into recycled and sustainable outdoor bars, tables, and benches.
Why are the Brick & Mortar stores so popular?
Since we opened in 2009, customers often talk about the warm feel of both our stores. People love the whole concept of mixing and matching. Anyone furnishing a home can find what they need, and we stock regularly enough so that customers can go home with their merchandise, or we can ship the items to them. Our products change regularly, because we shop many markets, including California, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and the furniture capital of the world – North Carolina.
