In the northern latitudes, warmer weather motivates homeowners to imagine backyard retreats where they could savor the stillness and serenity of a morning cup of coffee on the patio, as well as the high-spirited fun of a poolside bash. In those imaginings, the sun soaks into a beautifully paved patio, a stunning accessory for any home.
With 30 years of industry experience, landscape architect Dennis Habenicht and finance whiz Lori Habenicht of High Prairie Landscape Supply in Genoa City excel at turning dreams into reality. High Prairie Landscape Supply provides contractors and do-it-yourselfers the supplies to install a personal retreat, an entertaining space, or even an elegant driveway.
“We offer everything you can think of for decorative exteriors, other than plant material,” Dennis says, describing his hardscape inventory. “We have extensive displays of different manufacturers’ product choices,” he explains, “including all of the major Midwest manufacturers, such as Unilock, Belgard, and Techo-bloc.” Keeping up with what customers want in landscaping and offering up-to-date products ensure that High Prairie Landscape Supply can satisfy their customers’ needs.
What distinguishes High Prairie Landscape Supply from other companies?
“We listen to our customers,” Dennis says. “After we understand what our customers want, we analyze what their needs are and then offer good, better, and best solutions for what they hope to accomplish in their landscape. The ‘good, ‘better’ and ‘best’ correspond to economical, middle of the road, and high-end possibilities.”
When clients visit High Prairie Landscape Supply, they can look at color and style samples, as well as their extensive outdoor displays. Employing his degree in landscape architecture, Dennis studies homeowners’ house colors in order to help them choose products to complement their homes’ exteriors.
What are the current trends in landscape design?
The current trend, Dennis tells us, is to use large, natural-looking pavers with the appearance of real stone. Manufactured concrete stone offers important advantages over natural stone, such as controlled thickness and exact measurements, lower cost, and half the installation time of natural stone. Another trend is to incorporate an outdoor kitchen or fire feature into a patio. For this reason, displays at High Prairie Landscape Supply feature outdoor kitchens with grills, pizza ovens, and even refrigerators.
Dennis and Lori’s team are eager to help customers realize the dream of their own outdoor oasis. As Dennis explains, “Nobody in the area specializes in hardscaping at the scale we do!”
