Savoy at the French Country Inn
Best Fine Dining
Snuggly located near the south shore of Lake Como and overlooking the Geneva National Golf Course, Savoy has carved out a niche in its brief existence with hearty helpings of what restaurant leaders describe as top-tier service alongside offerings of dishes with high-quality, fresh ingredients.
“We’re in a fantastic location,” Executive Chef Cristian Hernandez says. “Being away from the downtown area feels a little more like being at your own home.”
Savoy was set to open in March 2020, but plans were amended in response to the pandemic. After a few pivots, Cristian says the response has been overwhelmingly positive. “We’re pretty new and recent to the Lake Geneva area,” he says. “We’ve been very happy. We’ve received incredible support from everyone in the community.”
Visitors to Savoy will likely see an ever-changing, ever-evolving menu, Cristian says, and this is by design, as the eatery focuses on locally sourced ingredients from its adjacent garden and other nearby areas. In fact, the menu could change from one day to the next. Savoy’s pastry chef also makes many of the restaurant’s desserts from scratch, including the ice cream.
“Everything is focused on seasonality,” Cristian says. “The garden that we’ve been taking care of was a tremendous success last year. We didn’t have to buy a single tomato for our salads. We’re working with some other people in the area, and we are trying to bring more local ingredients.”
Savoy currently is open for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday to Sunday, but the business is expanding. A Sunday morning brunch service also was added in May, beginning on Mother’s Day.
As for the future, Cristian says, “We’re not looking to grow fast, we’re looking to grow correctly. We don’t want to start doing too much too fast. We want people to have the whole experience.”
