Nearly 60 years after the cartoon The Jetsons wowed viewers with a preview of flat-screen TVs, smartwatches and video calls, Luxury Technology Group is providing smart-home technology to residential customers in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
This includes multi-room audio-visual systems, home theaters, home security systems, outdoor lighting and audio and hand-woven, one-of-a-kind shades that control a home’s climate by raising and lowering according to the path of the sun. The company also installs automated and remote-controlled access to homes’ HVAC, appliances, security systems, and even pools and irrigation systems.
“We can do whatever you want,” says owner Scott Pipal.
The technology the company provides is more relevant now than ever before. People have been spending more time at home, Scott notes, and some have put off projects, maybe for years.
“They say, ‘this is bothering us; we need to fix this ASAP,’” Scott says.
Some needs are purely practical. With more people working and e-learning from home, they need superior wireless networks and cell phone reception. With a cell phone booster, cell phones reliably get five bars of reception, according to Scott.
Not only do Luxury Technology Group’s products make life easier, they also serve a higher purpose – “to let people have fun and enjoy time with their families,” Scott says.
“People are turning their homes into personal sanctuaries,” says Sarika Sharma, Luxury Technology Group’s Operations Director, who also happens to be Scott’s wife.
Scott has firsthand experience regarding how technology can contribute to family togetherness. He and his dad spent hours watching films when he was a child. One day his dad, a phone company retiree who knew how to run electricity and wires, told him that they were going to build a home theater together.
That experience of sharing time with his dad inspired Scott’s career change, years later. Working in construction and as an electrical apprentice, Scott discussed this possible new career path with his then-girlfriend Sarika. She had a busy corporate legal career at the time, but the idea of upgrading homes’ technology to improve customers’ quality of life intrigued both of them.
“Why don’t we give this a shot?” Sarika says she asked Scott.
Six years later, Luxury Technology Group has grown into a home-based boutique company in Waukesha with five employees.
The protocol for serving customers begins with an initial meeting in the customers’ home, to get a feeling for the home’s flow. This involves observing where current audio-visual equipment is located as well as analyzing what controls and utilities already exist.
That first meeting also includes a discussion of the customers’ needs, wants, and ‘must-haves’, so that each home can be refitted with the best fully-integrated, custom-designed technology.
Luxury Technology Group’s design team oversees each detail from the start of construction “to the final push of the button.”
“We’re perfectionists,” Sarika says. “We get to know our clients’ needs and wants and work within their budgets.”
“Our clients and their referrals are our lifeblood,” says Scott, who believes that Luxury Technology Group’s service after installation is what contributes to the company’s success and its high online reviews.
“I genuinely get to make people happy,” Scott says. “I love that.”
